Welcome back to a quick roundup of the best 3 beers I’ve had over the past week 🙂
Virtuous – IPA – Kirkstall Brewery
Every once in a while you get a really lovely surprise with an IPA and this was one of them. So easy for them all the blend into a very similar tasting drink, but this one stood out for me.
Slightly hazy, with a beautiful hoppy fresh smell and packed full of flavour, it is a proper session-able IPA. Also stands out from the crowd for how smooth it is, making it so (dangerously!) drinkable. Got a 4.25 from me.
Expedition – Sour IPA – Fyne Ales
The Devonshire Cat in Sheffield always has a fantastic selection of craft beers on tap, and when I saw this I had to give it a go. I was not disappointed!
Packs an initial fruity punch with the sour really sharpening up the finish. For a sour beer it’s actually very drinkable and one of only a few that I’ve ended up having a few pints of. I didn’t actually check it in on Untappd due to no power, but It’ll be going on my account shortly with a rating of 4.00.
Tiramisu Porter – Porter – North Riding Brewery
*Beer of the week*
I actually dragged my friend down to the Itchy Pig in Broomhill (great little micro-pub with a fab atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff) specifically because I saw that they had posted that this was coming on. It was worth it!
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I think North Riding are the absolute masters of dark beers, and this just further solidifies that opinion. The coffee notes are nicely subtle and it’s deliciously smooth and creamy. If you see a NRB beer on at your local, don’t hesitate to try it! Scored 4.5 on Untappd, and it’s current average sits at 4.02 which is very good when you’ve got over 400 ratings!
Check back in later in the week for Part 2 of the Second Meeting of HCBC!
